Liebster Award

Thanks to such a busy schedule and tons of homework, It took me a while to get around to doing this. However, I would like to give a very special thank you to Katherine Gueverra (http://kguevarra.blogspot.com) for nominating me for the Liebster Award.

The Liebster Award is given to up-and-coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers as a fun way to help spread the word about smaller blogs and get them more readers and followers.

Liebster is a German word that means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

Here's how it works:
  • Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
  • Answer the questions the tagger set for you.
  • Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
  • Create 11 new questions for the people you have tagged to answer.
  • Go to their page and tell them.

One rule: No tag backs!

Let's start with the 11 things about me:

Prayers

For the past two weeks i have been extremely busy trying to meet my early action deadlines. Just as my November 1st deadline comes up, New York is hit with a Natural disaster. Hurricane Sandy. I would like to send a Prayer to all of the Coast Guard, National Guard, Emergency Evacuation volunteers, Police, and Firefighter out there risking there lives. If ignorant people had listened and just evacuated then a less lives would currently be at risk. And as my lights Continue to flicker on and off I cant help but ponder if this is God's way of telling us to be grateful for the things we have such as heat and electricity? Is this his way of forcing us to build a closer bond with our families? What ever the case maybe, I put all my trust into thy Lord . In Jesus name Amen.

School "(

Last week I was out of school the WHOLE week. I was super sick: sneezing, runny nose, swollen throat, the whole nine. Now after a week on the couch sick, I returned to school Friday afternoon to collect my homework and stuff that I missed. So here is the list of things I picked up from school

1. 3 four page earth science packets on stuff I know nothing about
2. An informative speech assignment
3. Penny Harvest Package for our upcoming penny Harvest
4. parcel full of breast cancer awareness packets
5. Chapters to study for AP. U.S Final
6. Chapters to study for AP Government Finals
7. Martin Luther King Jr. Letter from Jail
8. Notes to study for Speech Communications Final

To top it all off all of that is due or happening MONDAY. So you can only imagine the busy weekend I have had. Not to mention I am still in the process of moving in to my new place. Senior year just seems to get harder and harder at the days tick away. I wish it would slow down just a little so I can enjoy it. BUT on the bright side my personal statement for my college essays are coming along splendidly. Another draft or two and I will be able to send out all my college essays. Then I just have to be patient and wait for my acceptance letters to come pouring in. In the mean time I will continue applying to scholarships; I got to pay for college some how. So be on the look out for ways in which you can help.

Home of the Lions!

As Promised, I'll share with you my overnight stay at Columbia University. To sum it up it one word its was simply ASTONISHING!!!

Getting to Columbia was the hard part of my over night stay. Which is ironic because I live in New York, you would think that my skills of getting around on MTA Public Transportation would be better then it is. I was set to arrive at Columbia by 4 pm, its sad to say that because I got lost on the one train and left school later then I should have, I arrived to Columbia around 5:30 pm. Luckily, they were able to accommodate me. I met up with my host, Tofunmi, for dinner. Although they had a pretty great selection of food, I wasn't really hungry and settled for salad and pizza. After such an early dinner, we dropped my stuff off at Carmen and had a Campus tour.

After all the meeting and greeting was done we headed back to Carmen, one of the two freshmen only dorms on campus and I got to meet tons of amazing freshmen. Tofunmi's floor mates are pretty awesome if I do say so my self. Megan and Madison lives across the hall they are totally fun and easy going, I loved talking with them. Connor, he's one mellow dude; I hope he passed the bio exam he was studying for. Then there was the Asian kid from Missouri, he was really funny, we kept bumping into him all over campus mostly at butler library. Lastly, was Tofunmi's roommate, I forgot her name but she was so sweet and she plays Volleyball for Columbia (GO LIONS!). Tofunmi and I concluded our night at JJ's place which is this pretty cool night time cafe, the food there is also good. Over all my overnight visit is one that I will never forget.

All of the people I met made me want to be in college faster even though one common piece of advice they gave me was to enjoy senior year. Seeing that senior year has been completely unorganized (on my schools behalf) and stressful due to college applications and student government there has been little or no time for myself. While at Columbia I was able to sit in on a class and it was good to see that college isn't completely different form what I'm use to. One main thing that my overnight visit did for me was push Columbia up on my college list. So Columbia University is now one of my first choices, with my second choice being Harvard. As I continue my college process I can only hope that it be easy enough for me to choice which path best suits me. Seeing that I will continue down this path for the next four... maybe eight years of my academic career.

This is a Panoroma shot of Columbias Quad from the top of the lower library.

Fun Fact: Columbia has 23 libraries and a rear book collection which could be found inside butler library along with and history exhibit!

47 % off

Romney, who is a very good competitor for Obama, Has shown very great ideas when it comes to building up the American economy. No I'm not a republican nor a democrat, I'm more undecided then anything and trying to figure out which political party I firmly believe in. But after the release of Romney's 47% off Statement i am shifting more to the democratic side.

"My job is not to worry about those people," Romney told donors at a May 17 fundraiser in Boca Raton, Fla. "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.""There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them," Romney said during a question and answer session at a $50,000 per plate gathering. "And they will vote for this president no matter what.

Showing his true Colors? I think so. To bluntly write off almost half the nation whether in private or in public, is not a candidate that I want to see in office, and I am sure that that there are now more then 47% of Americans who will not vote for him.

Looking forward to the Presidential election to see what type of damage control this unfit candidate will come up with. The average teen turns to MTV, BET, or VH1 for their daily does of reality TV drama, I on the other hand turn to CNN and tune into any political discussion. Politicians just don't understand that all they are doing is tearing America apart and setting us up for the next civil war. Isn't it bad enough we are on the brink of World War Three? Get y'all act together UNITY is KEY!

Any who I am done ranting for today, this has just been a major issue that I have discussed in several of my classes and I felt people should completely understand my view.
